Fight Against Child Poverty
This initiative began in 2004 as a Walk and Family Fun Day. The event is a fundraising opportunity for nonprofit organizations working to end child poverty through education, health, workforce development, family support and parenting
, and youth development programs.
In 2004, the first annual Walk to Fight Child Poverty, Sponsored by Ipswitch, Inc., was a tremendous success! More than 350 participants raised over $50,000 for 6 nonprofit organizations. Hundreds of families enjoyed the three-mile walk, moon bounce, obstacle course, face painting, food, music, other games and fun characters.
In 2005, the event attracted over 450 participants and raised more than $75,000 for Cradles to Crayons, Citizens Schools, Charles River Public Internet Center, CARE through the New England Women’s Initiative, The Boston Children’s Chorus, and Topf Center for Dance Education.
Our next event is planned for September 15th, 2007. Participating non-profit organizations include Year Up, Charles River Public Internet Center, Cradles to Crayons, and Give Us Your Poor.
